How do I become a teacher?
- Download the myyodaa app from the App Store or Google Play.
Follow the steps to sign up as a teacher.
We'll get in touch by email to verify your ID and credentials, and to help to get your teacher profile up and running.
We'll also send you an agreement document that you'll need to sign. This sets out our obligations to each other - for example regarding payment and confidentiality. You'll also need to share your bank account details for payment.
Once you're signed up, and we're happy with your profile - we'll make your profile live!
Do I need to provide any evidence of qualifications and experience?
Yes. To be able to register as a teacher on myyodaa, you need to be a trained yoga and/or meditation instructor and provide evidence of your training. Keeping teacher standards high is important to us.
What if my holistic offer extends beyond yoga and meditation?
We've heard from teachers that many of you have other wellness or spiritual practices that form part of your toolkit. For now, myyodda just has meditation and yoga booking categories, but you are welcome to include more information about your offer in your profile.
Will I become a myyodaa employee when I sign up as a teacher on the platform?
No. You are a service provider to myyodaa. This means you can remain independent and continue with any other work you do as well. Think of myyodaa as your global online studio.
What if I want to stop being a myyodaa teacher?
No problem. You can take a break easily by managing your availability. Or, if you’d rather be removed from the app, let us know and we’ll take off your profile. You are not locked into anything.
Is myyodaa an agency?
No, we are facilitators. We don’t do any co-ordination – we let the students and teachers communicate directly via the app and work out what works for them. There is no cost to sign up, for teachers or students.
Is there a policy or philosophy at myyodaa about which schools of yoga or meditation are approved or not?
myyodaa aims to democratise yoga and meditation – making the health and wellness benefits of this ancient practice accessible to all. As such, we do not advocate for any specific schools of yoga, rather allowing teachers to offer their experience and knowledge and enabling students to choose what suits their needs.
How are teachers paid?
We pay our teachers via Transferwise. All you need is to provide us details of the bank account in which you want to be paid and we transfer securely, all around the world. We pay our teachers monthly, on the 20th of the month. Any classes that you’ve held in the previous month will be paid at one time.
Is there any support with languages or translations?
Currently our app is available in English, but teachers can teach in languages that they are comfortable in. When you are setting your profile, remember to include all languages you can teach in.
